shwetdeep

 Narad in Shwetdeep

The meandering sage once flew to Shwetdeep ruled by lord Narayan and goddess Sindhulakshmi. He found that inhabitants of this sphere shone brilliantly with a scintillating white aura around all. Narad mentally worshipped such pious people and they also welcomed sage Narad with open arms. Desirous to see lord Narayan, sage Narad began to live there and worship lord Narayan mentally all the time. He raised his arms and chanted his holy names always.

Pleased by his devotion lord Narayan appeared before him. Narad found the cosmic vision of lord which possesses all and everything imaginable by anyone. His aura failed the brightness of a thousand suns put together. Some forms of lord Narayan issued white light, some green light; some nimbus; some maroon and some translucent. Some part glittered like purple; some blue; some peacock. Lord Narayan looked matchlessly glowing in all directions with multicolored lights. At one moment he looked possessing thousands of arms, thousands of heads, thousands of torso and thousands of legs. His one mouth chanted gayatri mantra and four mouths sang four Vedas. His hands were equipped with various weapons and auspicious articles and he looked smiling to all with grace and affection.

Devotee Narad was overwhelmed and fell on the feet of lord Narayan. He prostrated and wished not to rise up. Lord Narayan addressed him,-“Sage! Other sages had also reached here to see me in this form but I did not find them worthy of it. Only you are so pure hearted that compelled by your call of heart have I have shown you this rare form. Now seek any boon.”

“Lord! What can I seek after seeing you in this form, I seek nothing. Please bless me to be able to see you alone as and when I wish.” Said Narad.

Lord Narayan said,-“Naradji! None can see me with mortal eyes. What you are seeing is also creation of my illusory powers. I dwell in all beings as their soul. Even after  bodies die, I live as soul. Blessed are those who rejoice in solitude alone and focus their mind on me. Having shed the rajogun and tamogun they are sure to be one with me after mortal death. See the eleven Rudras on my right and twelve Adityas on my left side. See eight Vasus are in front of me and twin Ashwinikumars are behind me. All deities and their consorts are within me. I am the progenitor and sustainer of all. I plan the creation and run it at my sweet will. I descend on earth to destroy the evil only. I rejoice within me after withdrawing all forms of life. I dwell as sage Narayan at mount Badri.” Thus lord Narayan made sage Narad omniscient and disappeared. Sage Narad flew to mount Badri and found sage Narayan spreading a beatific smile at him. Left speechless he saluted in his feet and fell in an effable trance. The silence is the speech of secrets of heart, he realized.
